The Office
Behind every family, one office.
Silk & Vines is a partner-led multi-family office based in Cambridge, privately owned and closed to new relationships beyond a small number of principals.
Why We Exist
Silk & Vines runs as the standing office through which a family's financial affairs are held together. The role is a coordinating one: knowing what each provider is doing, holding the working relationship with each of them and giving the principal one senior counterpart across the whole.
It is a position that has traditionally sat inside a family's own staff or inside a private bank. We keep it independent and hold it externally, on behalf of the households we serve.

Ownership And Governance
Silk & Vines is owned by its partners. Ownership is not offered outside the working group, and no external capital sits behind us. Decisions about who we work with, how we are staffed and how we grow are made internally and made slowly.
How We Are Run
Four operating principles describe how we are set up:
- A Closed Roster
- We accept a small number of principals and hold the roster there. New relationships are considered only when an existing one ends or a partner has genuine capacity to take on more. The service model would not survive scale, so we keep to a size at which every partner can know every file properly.
- Payment From One Direction
- Fees are paid by the family. We do not receive retrocessions, introducer commissions, placement fees, or revenue shares from banks, managers, or product providers. Where such payments arise unavoidably in a market, they are rebated in full.
- The Partner Is the Office
- Each principal has one partner accountable for their affairs, from introduction onward. The work is owned at that level and stays there. Junior delegation is not our model and no relationship manager sits between the principal and the partner who owns the file.
- Nothing On Record That Need Not Be
- Written material, third-party introductions and internal reporting are kept to what the family's affairs require. Where we describe our engagements publicly, we do so through anonymised examples that carry no identifying detail. Clients are not named and we do not maintain a marketing function in the ordinary sense.
